For the first time, the championship of volunteers of the "Heart of Surgery" squad was held at Chelyabinsk State Medical Academy 30 students from the 1st to the 4th year took part in the competition, who united in four teams: "Ligature of Leaders", "Red Flag", "Whisper of the Heart" and "Blue Code". The jury included the head of the volunteer team, Associate Professor of the Department of Surgery of the Faculty of Continuing Professional Education, Doctor of Medical Sciences Natalia Troitskaya, surgical residents, as well as traumatologists Semyon Ushakov and Alexander Bochkarev. It all started with the "Business Card" competition: the teams presented bright creative performances, and the participants voted for the best presentation during the day. Then volunteers competed in demonstrating practical skills used to conduct career guidance workshops in key areas of surgery. They showed dexterity in the "Quick Hands" competition, competing in the speed of knitting surgical sutures; honed complex skills in the competition "Microvascular anastomosis – the head must work" and delved into the specifics of coloproctology. Even in the "Assemble the Chain" competition, the participants showed their skills in laparoscopy. Students tested their theoretical training in the competitions "Volunteer's ABC", where they proved their understanding of the basics of volunteering, and "Medical Detective" with questions on the history of medicine. In the competition "The Best Volunteer", the personal qualities, experience and contribution of each participant to the work of the squad were evaluated. According to the results of the competition, the victory was won by the team "Ligature of Leaders", silver went to "Red Flag", the honorary bronze was won by the team "Whisper of the Heart", and the fourth place was taken by participants from the "Blue Code". The Department of Surgery of the Faculty of Continuing Professional Education expressed special gratitude to the students who made a significant contribution to the organization and holding of the championship: Egor Blagorazumov, Oleg Grigoriev, Yesenia Kazakova, Irina Antsiferova, Angelica Dolma (head of the "Heart of Surgery" squad), Ekaterina Rakova, Mikhail Peshkov, Victoria Loktinova, Karina Pogosyan and Kristina Bezrukova. According to the organizers, such championships can become traditional.
